Operations Manager

Richard Tunnicliffe has nearly 20 years of experience in the building supply industry, helping clients build their dream homes and success for their companies. As an operations specialist at Star, Richard takes the responsibility of fully understanding our customers’ needs and offering the best solutions possible.

Richard helps maintain the quality standards we’ve set for our products and services, streamlines our processes to decrease lead time and enforces ideas like delivering materials on-time and in-full. He also helps educate other staff members in new products, helping them progress and better serve you. Trust Richard with your next building project.

Daniel Goertzen 
Purchasing Manager

Daniel Goertzen learned the lumber industry from his father. Over years of winter logging and summer carpentry he learned the ins-and-outs of the building business, and he followed this passion into adulthood. Daniel began his career in lumber retail, shifting to I-joist and Truss manufacturing for several years before taking the job as Star’s purchasing manager.

Daniel oversees all aspects of Star’s purchasing and inventory operation, ensuring that all the products we offer our customers meet the absolute highest standards of quality and value. He also works to make sure we offer everything our customers need to get the job done – that we’re the one-stop retailer for their entire project. In short, he helps us make sure we’re helping you.

Engineered Wood Products Manager

In university, David Klassen began working construction jobs over the summer. After attaining a civil engineering degree and his P.Eng designation, he dove headfirst into the industry. David now has 16 years experience in truss and joist design and manufacturing, with two years under his belt in a structural engineering office.

As a specialist in engineered wood products, David provides quality products and cost-effective solutions to our clients, as well as ensures the integrity of the project’s plan. Come into Star to see what David’s team can design for you.

Helen Smith is a 15-year veteran of the concrete construction industry, and also bears four years of experience in the manufacturing industry. She specializes in finance, balancing statements and assisting with the financial procedures that keep us going.

With her experience and expertise, Helen helps us offer the services that allow our customers to complete their projects within their budget. From working with our purchasing department to supporting our sales associates, she’s a part of everything we do here.

Ken Crockett’s been a builder from the day he was born. He grew up in a family business that included renovations; new home construction and custom log homes. One of his very first jobs was in a local home hardware store, loading customer vehicles and preparing deliveries. This was his beginning in the building industry, and he hasn’t looked back once.

At Star, Ken has developed a sustainable and ethical business structure, one that serves customers first and rewards those who take responsibility for their work. He’s helped Star become the reliable supplier and partner that it is. As much as he loves the work, it’s the people that mean most to him. Ken takes great pleasure in helping customers overcome their challenges, and being part of a team that cares as much as he does.

Lorrie Wood comes from a long line of builders. His family has been in construction and renovation for 70 years – they’ve been building longer than power tools have been around. With experience in the drywall, electrical and framing industries and 30-years’ worth of renovation knowledge, Lorrie knows exactly what our customers need to get their projects from design to delivery.
